Birthday ‘cakes’

There are no words to fully describe how wonderful birthdays are. It’s a day when you realize just how much you’re loved, and it can’t help but make you feel good! I received so many wonderful cards, gifts, treats and “Happy Birthday” wishes – I am truly grateful

I started out the day making my own “cakes” – Cheese Danish pancakes, that is 😉

I added a little whipped cream as “icing” and they turned out great!

I had a great time golfing with Bobby! The weather stayed sunny for most of the round, and while it wasn’t super warm, it was actually the perfect temperature for walking with our clubs. We decided the loser would buy me my first drink as a 21-year-old…and of course I won! I didn’t play in all those tournaments in high school for nothin’ 😉

We went to a restaurant called Davis Street Fish Market for lunch. I had this mojito, and it was very good! I also had some halibut with a side of broccoli and red beans and rice, but I had already eaten most of it before I remembered to take a picture! I guess I was hungry from the four hour round of golf! I did, however, remember to take a picture of the free chocolate cake we were given for my birthday!

It was HUGE! The picture is too dark to see, but what you’re looking at is the “crust” which was made entirely of chocolate chips and chocolate icing. I ate most of the crust while Bobby worked on the cake – I knew better than to eat it all though, because I also had this waiting for me at home:

A Whole Foods buttercream cake! Courtesy of my roommate – THANK YOU KATHLEEN! – it is so unbelievably delicious. I definitely recommend it if you’re ever looking for a place to order a cake from – WOW!

As you can see, the cakes were not in short supply! This morning, however, I received yet another yummy surprise in the mail from my wonderful family!

Chocolate-covered strawberries!! The front row is dark chocolate and peanuts, the middle is white chocolate (and one of them has little pieces of chocolate on top), and the back row is milk chocolate and peanuts. As you can see, I’m pretty much set in the treat department for quite a while! Good thing I like sharing 🙂

It was such an amazing day – and I’m looking forward to going home in a few weeks to see my family! Even though school can be stressful, it’s great to know there are days like these to look forward to and keep me upbeat 🙂

Here’s something else to look forward to – my aunt is sending me something special I can use in the kitchen! I can’t wait to create something with it and, of course, I will definitely feature it on the blog!

I hope everyone is having a restful weekend. “See” you soon!

Sweet dreams 🙂

Wow, between golfing, free cake, MORE cake (haha), and all the other fantastic food/events that took place on your special day, I’d say that your birthday was nothing less than wonderful :0)

  3. Looks like you had some awesome birthday treats! Everything looks amazing! Hope you had a wonderful day and enjoyed every bite! You deserve it!

  4. Woohoo! Happy Birthday! 21 is a big one!! Sounds like you an an amazing day.. that whole foods cake really is something! I hate most the cakes you get from your average grocery store- for some reason the ingredients just taste cheap & fake and extra unhealthy. When I eat whole foods baked goods, I feel like I’m putting a higher quality product into my body!! We always get their cakes for special occasions, and it was always whole foods for pies and treats for thanksgiving!

And those strawberries are too cool! I’ve seen apples decorated extravagantly with nuts and chocolate, but never strawberries like that! So neat!!

  5. Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had an awesome day! My mouth is watering just looking at all the lovely treats you got.

  7. Romina, VeggieGirl, Cassie, glidingcalm, chocolate-4u, Kristie and Jill: Thank you all! You brightened my day 🙂
