Falling in love

I’ve fallen in love with a restaurant. No, seriously. The BEST sandwich I have ever had. More on that later…

I woke up with time to spare this morning  I was able to leisurely cook and eat my breakfast – hurrah! That of course means stove-top oatmeal!

The usual: 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/4 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk + flax, wheat germ, maple syrup, and PB granola!

I liked this picture because the sun was shining through the slats on my window – how artsy 😉 I’m hoping to get some new trail mixes to try this weekend, so stay tuned! I also had a mug of Coffee Cocoa as I checked my email!

I got to the office and worked worked worked until about 10:30 am, when I reached for a Chocolate Brownie ZBar. I usually always have these bars before a workout, so it was nice to have one as a snack for a change – it felt like I was eating a treat! I swear they taste just like a brownie!!

At around noon, I headed out to lunch with my “mentor.” She’s someone who I can go to throughout the summer for advice, questions, etc. We got a meal that was paid for by the company, so it was quite the treat! She recommended Hannah’s Bretzel. Let me tell you…I was NOT disappointed! It’s a completely organic sandwich shop. Seriously, check out the link to their site above and look at all the delicious breads they make fresh all day long! It was BREAD HEAVEN!! The prices are a little higher because it’s in the city, but I am definitely going to have to go back by myself some day, just so I can 1) eat it again and 2) take my own picture of the bread for the blog! Here’s a picture of the bretzel from their site:

For lunch, I had the Italian Parma Ham + Fresh Mozzarella sandwich on a whole grain bretzel baguette. It came with baby arugula and sun-dried tomato mustard, and WOW was it good! The best part was that my mentor and I walked down to a park to eat our food and enjoy the sunshine! It was a lot of fun 🙂

I got back to work and spent the afternoon in meetings. At about 4:00 pm I was getting pretty ravenous, so I took out the last serving in a box of Kashi TLC Crackers – the Original 7 Grain flavor.

The days are going by so quickly! Pretty soon it was time to go already, so I headed home and made dinner! I was really excited about this one…

A nice, juicy “burger” 🙂 I had a Boca vegan burger on an Ezekiel English muffin, topped with some reduced fat Mexican cheese! So doughy and good!

I also had a red pepper topped with Annie’s Woodstock dressing!

After dinner, Bobby and I played some tennis! I’m REALLY not good – golf is definitely more my thing 🙂 But I’m learning and hoping to get better each time I play so that by the end of the summer I will be somewhat decent! I used to play when I was little but haven’t since. I think the most important thing you can do with anything is LEARN EARLY – otherwise it’s soo much harder to pick things up as an adult!

“See” you later!!

  1. I LOVE that plate you used for dinner, it’s so pretty! I’ve really found that sitting down (rather than scarfing food down at the counter) and using cute dishes and having a nice atmosphere makes a meal a BILLION times better.

Oh, and per your endorsement on the blog I finally tried using vanilla and almond milk in my oatmeal….DELICIOUS!
