That four-letter word.

RAIN RAIN RAIN!

That four-letter word is all it takes to make everyone just a little bit crankier. It was cloudy, windy, and rainy on Wednesday. The weather definitely puts a damper on my mood, but at least it looks like the long weekend is going to be pretty nice! As long as there will be fireworks, I’m happy πŸ™‚

BREAKFAST

I decided to go for something quick and cold for breakfast. I have some perfectly ripe bananas I want to use up, so I decided to slice one up on top of cereal.

I used 1/2 cup of TJ’s High Fiber O’s, 1 cup of Nature’s Path Puffs, 1 tbsp. of Nutz Over Raspberries and Chocolate trail mix, and 1 large sliced banana. Topped with 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk. It’s nice to break up the oatmeal pattern – but somehow regular cereal just isn’t as filling.

LUNCH

I had every intention of packing my lunch – until I realized that Wednesdays are the days that the interns get free lunch! One can’t pass that up, right?

Today we got boxed lunches a la Corner Bakery. I chose the chicken pesto sandwich, which came with a fresh fruit salad, potato chips, and a cookie. Here’s a look at the inside of the box – it’s actually a great way to cater a business lunch because it’s a lot less messy!

I ate about 3/4 of the sandwich (I pulled the chicken out at the end because it wasn’t very good), all of theΒ fruit salad, and about 1/4 of this guy:

Oatmeal raisin is my favorite type of cookie (hm, wonder why?) so I couldn’t help but sneak a few bites. This one was soft and chewy – nice work, Corner Bakery!

DINNER

The rain got in the way of the plans my mom and I had for Wednesday night πŸ™ Instead, we did a bit of shopping (I suppose a nice substitute, right?) and settled on Noodles & Company for dinner – also not a bad substitute!

I love so many dishes at this place. Tonight I decided to get in some veggies and protein, so I went with the Med Salad. It’s their version of a Greek saladromaine lettuce, kalamata olives, cavatappi noodles, and feta cheese with a yogurt dressing. I got the dressing on the side and fork-dipped it, and I added some shrimp on top.

This salad is deliciously light, yet filling.

QUICK NOTE

I realize I’ve been eating out a lot this week – and it’s not going to change with the approaching holiday weekend. I suppose the theme for this week should be “how to eat healthy away from home.” Hopefully, I am acheiving this theme πŸ™‚

One more day until the long weekend, everyone! Have a good one πŸ™‚

  1. What fabulous food today. You are such a great inspiration to show us how to get balanced meals at places we all have accessible to us (Cosi, Corner Bakery, etc.).

  2. Jenn! You are too cute with that cookie πŸ™‚ For some reason the way you photographed it (awesome, obvi) makes it look as though the cookie is smiling at us πŸ™‚ (Or at you) Does anyone else see the photograph in this way? Lol, anyone?

Anyways, I love the soups at Corner Bakery (Tomato Basil = A.mazing and it’s dairy free! (I’m lactose intolerant…yah, nerdy mc nerd) ) and I think you totally exemplified maintaining your healthy lifestyle while eating out! Totally healthy πŸ™‚ Moderation IS key! Deprivation never is πŸ™‚ Way to go girl!

  3. (PS) If that was not enough of the πŸ™‚ faces, let me know and I’ll throw in some more next time. πŸ˜‰

  5. Of course that is okay. I think you and I have all the exact same restaurants–i guess that is what happens when you live in a major city. I am addicted to Corner Bakery. I have learned to just stay away from there if i am expected to get into a bathing, dress or even a pair of jeans any time in the next two weeks. Pastries may be the death of me.

And I am adding you to mine!!

Happy pre-Fourth or Fourth eve…which ever works better. πŸ™‚
