Arrived!

I have arrived at my destination – and I have Internet access! At least for tonight…I’m not sure if I’ll have it all weekend, but here are today’s eats!

BREAKFAST

I woke up feeling not-so-hot. I didn’t get much sleep this week, and it finally started to catch up with me. As a result, I wasn’t in the mood for a big bowl of oats. Instead, I made myself a small bowl of cereal, with 1/2 cup of TJ’s High Fiber O’s and 1 cup of Nature’s Path Puffs.

I used 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk and added the last of my Cinnamon Raisin Swirl peanut butter to provide a little more substance.

I also had some Coffee Cocoa to try to wake myself up – though caffeine unfortunately has little effect on me. I’m one of those people that could drink three gallons of coffee (ok, that might be a slight exaggeration) and then go take a nap. In fact, I can pretty much take a nap anytime, anywhere!

MORNING SNACK

Breakfast held me over until about 10:00 a.m. I snacked on the last of my juicy red pears – I’m going to need to get more of these!

LUNCH

We actually had another office meeting with lunch (sorry, no photo!). I had some salad with a drizzle of ranch dressing, 1 small diced red potato, 1/2 of a Granny Smith apple and 1/2 of a veggie sandwich. The sandwich was actually really good – it had zucchini, red pepper, spinach and mushroom on a small roll. I’m not sure where it was catered from, but it was by far the healthiest free meal we’ve had so far this summer.

AFTERNOON SNACK

I was really cold in the office for some reason, so at about 3:30 p.m. I decided to grab myself a mocha from Hannah’s Bretzel. It was actually organic, which I was excited about!

I asked for it with skim milk. Look at the foamy top – YUM! It warmed me right up.

DINNER

Of course, I couldn’t go to Hannah’s Bretzel and NOT get a whole grain bretzel!! I knew I didn’t want to spend money on a meal at the airport either, so I picked one up to eat as part of my dinner.

Gosh. I can’t get over how good these are. I could eat one for every meal of every day without anything else and be one very happy camper. Of course my body wouldn’t be as pleased as my taste buds if I did that 😉 But seriously, they taste so doughy and fresh, no matter how long they’ve been out of the oven.

To top off my dinner-on-the-go, I tried a new Clif bar: the blueberry crisp flavor.

Believe it or not, even though I swear by Clif ZBaRs, I’ve never had a full-fledged Clif bar before. I was actually very impressed – it was plenty big and tasted like a blueberry treat. It was a little sweeter than I might have liked, but perhaps it was just this flavor. So that begs the question…

What is your favorite Clif bar flavor?

It’s time for me to hit the hay – and hopefully sleep in a little tomorrow morning  I need to rest up for the busy weekend ahead! Hopefully I will have continuous Internet access – if not, I will be back on Sunday!

Sweet dreams 🙂

  1. I’m so jealous of your access to such delicious bretzels. We don’t have anything like that around here, at least not as far as I know. But I’ll bet if we did I would probably want one for every meal as well.

As for Cliff bars, the only kind I’ve ever tried is the Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch. It was pretty good but I want to give some of the other flavours a try.

  2. Sorry to hear you’re a little worn out today. I hope you get some rest this weekend.
I’m the same way with caffeine–it just doesn’t do anything to me. At school, it wasn’t uncommon for me to have a Diet Pepsi right before bed…
As for Clif bars, I have only had the mini Clif bars, but I LOVE the chocolate brownie flavor.

  3. I am SO jealous of those red pears. my grocery store is still out. boo. And that bretzel looks out of this world. I think I might have to come to chicago to get myself one of those.

also, I hate to be a pain but I just switched over to wordpress (SO MUCH BETTER than blogger!!!) so my new address is http://ourkitchenadventures.wordpress.com

Sorry to be a pain. I just figured that since I want to actually get serious about this blogging business, I might as well get myself a good website.

    Have a fabulous weekend!

  4. I haven’t actually tried the Clif bars yet… I should though. I’m kind of addicted to (yes, peanut butter) the Clif Nectar bars, though. They’re soooo yummy (especially the Dark Chocolate Walnut one!)!

Coffee doesn’t do much for me to help me stay awake either, but espresso is an entirely different story….

  5. Clif bars – its very difficult for me to pick my fave so here are my top pics (in no order):

    Oatmeal Raisin Walnut
    Chocolate Chip
