Lady Luck hates me.

Yesterday was not my day, unfortunately πŸ™ A few too many things went wrong. First, I had a pretty severe stomachache all afternoon and evening that still hasn’t gone away (too top it off, there’s a little bit of nausea going with it – I know, that might be TMI). Second, my Internet refused to work last night. I tried every possible tactic but got absolutely nothin’ until I finally gave up and called it a day. Last, but not least, my camera ate most of my pictures AGAIN. All I have was able to salvage is 1/2 of dinner and dessert. Fortunately, this time I figured out the trend – my camera eats my pictures when it’s really low on batteries. All of the sudden it just shuts off during the middle of the importing process, and it’s because it needs to be recharged. So I’ll be more aware of that and hopefully it will not happen again.

Or, you know, I could get a new camera. Has anyone heard of getting presents when you have a bad day? πŸ˜‰ I think it would be a great idea.

Needless to say, I’m not in the best of moods. But I figure talking about food will help, so stick with me while I attempt to paint a picture of my other meals and snacks with words. We’ll see how it goes.

BREAKFAST: I was really excited about this one, too:( I guess I will have to have it again soon. I broke out a container of Fage yogurt and combined it with 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup raspberries and 2 tbsp. TJ’s Nutz Over Raspberries & Chocolate trail mix. I also added about 2 tsp. maple syrup. It turned out perfectly and gave me just the right amount of sweetness with the yogurt. I’m really glad that I decided to give Greek yogurt another try because you can use it and dress it up in so many different ways.

MORNING SNACK: I didn’t get a chance to have my usual morning cup of Coffee Cocoa. So at about 10:00 am I headed to Hannah’s Bretzel for a skim mocha. The barista actually made a super cool design with the milk froth and said, “Here, a swirled mocha for you!” and I smiled, knowing that she had no idea JUST HOW HAPPY she made me because it meant I could take a picture of it and have a really pretty post πŸ™‚ But alas, my camera made sure that didn’t end up happening:evil: Oy!

LUNCH: In my haste Monday morning, I didn’t have time to pack anything for lunch. So I grabbed a salad from Ponte Fresco – the same as last week. It had spinach, water chestnuts, black olives, corn, avocado and red and green peppers with the Oriental Toasted Sesame dressing. Still tasty.

AFTERNOON SNACK: My afternoon snack was a Clif Chocolate Brownie ZBaR. Luckily, most of us know what one of those looks like!Β  I hadn’t had one for a while though, so it really hit the spot.

DINNER

Ok, now I can at least show you something! The first part of my dinner was just a few handfuls of trail mix that got eaten by the camera. Luckily, I managed to salvage the best part!

SWEET POTATO and GUACAMOLE!! A big shout-out to Liz of VeggieGirl for giving me this idea. It tasted even better than it does with ketchup! This will definitely be my go-to combination every time I have guacamole on hand.

I also had some cottage cheese with hazelnut butter, since many of you seemed to be so intrigued by it last time πŸ˜‰ If you didn’t catch what I said in response, I really like this combination – I’m not much of a fan of cottage cheese with jelly or other sweet ingredients, so the nutty flavor of the hazelnut works much better for my taste! Give it a try!

To wrap up dinner, I had a slice of chewy wheat sourdough.

I was lucky to get a chance to feel hungry and eat dinner, because soon afterward my stomach started to ache again. Then the Internet didn’t work. Then the camera ate my pictures. FUN FUN FUN!

After resting for a while, I made myself a bowl of sweet fruit to end the evening, complete with a whipped cream smiley face – just for you. It helped my tummy a little bit. There were fresh blueberries and raspberries, and frozen green grapes. I LOVE frozen grapes!!

Talking about food has indeed made me feel a bit better. I’m still not 100% though.

I hope you all have a good Tuesday πŸ™‚

Your fruit and whipped cream smiley face is awesome! I kinda wanna recreate that.

I’m also gonna try to have some berries with yogurt for breakfast more often. I need to mix it up.

    Hope you are feeling better!!

  9. I’m sorry to hear about your bad monday and hope the rest of your day goes better.

I am like how you used to be and don’t like greek yogurt but would like to. You mentioned putting 2 tsp of maple syrup on your yogurt which is a great idea-any brand recommendation? Also, how did you measure that? Maple syrup and honey are so sticky!

  10. Aw…I’m sorry you had such a crappy day!!! Doesn’t it seem like when it rains, it pours and it all happens at once??

  11. Well if you had a bad day yesterday today has to be better, right?

I missed the hazelnut butter last time around. What does it taste like?

  12. Presents are a grand idea but how about a quote?

“Live life to the fullest, so when you get old you can relive all the good moments”

    Feel better!

  13. I personally think if your camera ate those photos, then that means the calories don’t count….especially the handfuls of trail mix. πŸ™‚

    I love the smiley face!!

(and I hope today is going a lot better.)

Any ideas on a new camera because I am thinking about getting a new one too…mine simply has been exposed to many drunk nights at the bar and I think there is a little rum caked in it to prove it.

  14. oh man, i’m so sorry your day was not so great. It seems like when one thing goes wrong, EVERYTHING goes wrong. At least what you did eat was healthy and delicious!

That smiley face of whipped cream made me smile too! And now I’m craving MORE fruit. I swear I could just live off of fruit these days!

It’s too bad you couldn’t post a picture of the pretty mocha, but you just have to look on the bright side—now you just have to keep going there and getting more until you find one that is as good for you to show us : )

I hope your tummy troubles are all better today and that you’re having a MUCH better day!

  15. Foodie ~ Thank you πŸ™‚ And I am so glad that I finally decided to try sticking grapes in the freezer – it’s a healthy popsicle!

    Rose ~ I’m with you!

Aimee ~ Thank you for your sweet comment!

Mon ~ Give it a try! I can’t take credit for the genius idea, though πŸ™‚

Fitnessista ~ Thank you! And I’m glad SOMEONE is interested in the cottage cheese/nut butter combo!! Haha πŸ™‚

Olga ~ Berries and yogurt is a great way to mix it up!

    Shelby ~ I love presents. Period πŸ˜‰

VeggieGirl ~ Thank you, thank you for the wonderful tip!

    Erin ~ Thanks so much!

Em ~ Thanks – I’m feeling so much better thanks to all of these comments!

Amy ~ Thanks! Glad to hear someone has a sweet tooth like me πŸ™‚ As far as maple syrup goes, I tend to go for the natural kinds at the store. No specific brand, but I tend to chalk up an extra few dollars and NOT go for the Log Cabin/Mrs. Butterworth, but instead get something more authentic – it just tastes better and is worth the extra cost to me. As for measuring, I pretty much eyeball it. You’re right, it is sticky – but if there’s any extra, I just lick it off the spoon as I eat! There’s some REAL sweetness, for ya πŸ™‚ Hope that helps!!

    Fit Bottomed Girl ~
I’m with you – dessert makes my world go round.

Melissa ~ I couldn’t agree more! It’s the same with being busy. Once you are given one task, you get thrown five more at the same time! Crazy!

HangryPants ~ For sure πŸ™‚ And hazelnut butter tastes really nutty. I know that sounds obvious, but what I’m trying to convey is that it’s a lot less of the creamy, smooth consistency of regular PB and more of the crunch and whole nut flavor of a crunchy PB or an almond butter. It’s good!

Mark ~ Love the quote, thanks!! πŸ™‚

    Anna ~ Thank you!

Fitzalan ~ I hadn’t thought of it that way — you are a GENIUS!!! I am going to do some research on a new camera soon. I will let you know what I find! I totally have food all over mine too – ick.

Sarah ~ Thank you so much for your sweet comment πŸ™‚ You are too right in that when one thing goes wrong, it starts some sort of chain reaction. HATE THAT! But you totally found the bright side – I just have to keep buying those mochas!! Haha – awesome

Quinn ~ Great! I can’t take the credit (VeggieGirl suggested it to me), but I would definitely like to know what you think when you do give it a try!

  16. i too love frozen grapes! in high school my best friend and i would alternate bringing them to school once a week for our “frozen grape fridays”. πŸ˜›
