Busy bee

You all are too sweet – seriously, I was not fishing for compliments when I posted that fortune cookie, but I was very flattered by the response I got!

I was a busy bee yesterday and today is going to be even more intense. Who knew the end of summer “vacation” could be crazy? At least it’s all fun activities!

Note: I’m a little behind on the comments, but hopefully will be all caught up by the end of the week. Same goes for blog reading – with Bobby here (my boyfriend, since some of you were asking) it’s been extra jam-packed. Don’t worry, I’m not complaining!

So for today’s post, I decided to do a Mish Mosh of some interesting links I found. Plus a preview of what’s to come in my NEXT post πŸ™‚ I think some of you will be fans!

  • Any CSI or Law & Order fans out there? I am definitely a CSI, Without a Trace and Cold Case watcher on occasion, so it was very interesting for me to read that recent research shows that because the shows talk so much about death, we spend more on groceries – and EAT more of them, too! Apparently just thinking about our own impending death – however far in the future that may be – makes us want to consume more! A little morbid, but very interesting in my opinion!!
  • I have to admit, this next article sort of freaked me out. As an omnivore, I had no idea that cloned food may already be in the U.S. They claim it’s as safe as “conventional” products but…it just seems crazy to me that the FDA spokeswoman says she doesn’t actually KNOW if they’re here! Thoughts?
  • If you’re interested in running, you might want to check out this video Running 101. Personally, I think I’d benefit from the Galloway method. Running burns me out easily and sometimes gives me pain (due to running incorrectly), so I think a combination of running and walking would help me concentrate more on getting the form right and give me the ability to go farther distances.
  • Finally, I leave you with a preview of what’s to come…

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Hump Day!

  1. So the more pro-vegetarian books I read, the more I’m convinced that the FDA and USDA are trying to kill us. Well, maybe not trying to, but rather not trying to stop it. Cloned meat is nothing compared to the standard practices going on right now. If that article freaked you out and you don’t want to give up meat, then you should probably just avoid those kinds of articles all together – they freak me out too and I haven’t touched meat in almost a year!
So interesting about the correlation between death and groceries! You always find the most interesting topics!

  2. Lordy. That cloned thing freaks me out too. And the spokeswoman doesn’t know? Um. That’s your job, lady. Yikes!!

Love this mish mosh… wish I could read more but I’m just taking a break from work to read blogs for a minute…. will catch up later.

  3. You’re far too modest, my friend – that fortune cookies was 100% true!! πŸ™‚

  4. I agree that I am freaked out about cloned food. I don’t know, though, I bet it will become very common in the years to come.

hmm, well, those pluot’s… they’re a sort of genetic engineering, as are any hybrid fruit… but i don’t know how i really feel about the subject. should it be different for fruits and veggies and meat?

As far as the running I would do the run/walk method for sure.. it will build your endurance level as well as hope you focus on your gait!
