Never have I ever…

Wanted the weekend to be here more than I do now!

Has anyone ever played that “Never have I ever…” game? It reminds me of the sleepover days during middle school with late night rounds of Truth or Dare πŸ™‚ Hehe, that’s how I got my first kiss! Romantic, no?

So it’s probably a bit of an exaggeration to say that my week has been THE longest ever, but it will definitely go down as ONE of the longest. It’s not that I had completely grueling tasks – although some might say that’s true when it comes to applying for jobs – it’s just that everything I DID have to accomplish this weekend happened to be jam-packed into five days, without much room to deviate from the plan. In other words, bring on the weekend!

In the interest of keeping it, er, interesting, I wanted to share with you a new snack and meal idea from Thursday!

SNACK

I’m a big fan of the occasional handful of nuts to tide me over until dinner is ready. But I don’t end up buying nuts as often as I should considering how much I like them. Then I found these on sale

I’ve always been a fan of Blue Diamond almonds. I had seen these new flavors in the store but only got around to picking one of them up last weekend. I really like how these new containers measure out each ounce for you. Otherwise, it can be pretty hard to decipher how many almonds are in one serving.

The Cinnamon Brown Sugar flavor is awesome. It’s not overly sweet, but definitely adds a sugar kick to the regular, less flavorful almond. These completely satisfied my sweet tooth and my hunger while I made dinner on Thursday night.

MEALS

Although I’ve had a hectic week, I feel very proud of the fact that I’ve been able to squeeze in some well-balanced meals. Thursday night’s dinner was one such occasion. I cooked microwaved the entire meal in roughly 8 minutes and was ready to watch the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy with a huge bowl of flavor in tow.

Yum-o! I heated up a bag of Birds Eye Steamfresh – the Asian Medley – and stirred in about 1 tbsp. of teriyaki sauce to give it a bit more flavor. Then came time to add the next ingredient – microwaveable tilapia! I know it sounds funny, but I found these packets of microwaveable tilapia in the freezer section at my grocery store over the weekend. They are stuffed with shrimp and herb seasoning and have 130 calories per bag. Not bad for pre-packaged goods, which can sometimes contain an absolutely unmanageable ingredient list! The brand is Poseidon’s Choice and you can see the nutritional information here.

Everything in this bowl was completely moist and full of flavor. I microwaved the veggies for 4 minutes and the tilapia for 3 minutes – I can always handle an 8-minute meal!!

Tomorrow I will post a recap of Friday, which will include my entry for the Blogger Secret Ingredient!! I’m super pumped about it because it was kind of random but turned out great!

How has everyone’s Friday been going? Any big plans for the weekend?

“See” you again soon!

  9. Haha I don’t think I ever played that game. I never even liked truth or dare to be honest. I was such a lame-o. I was too private to tell my secrets and too chicken to do any dares. I needed to brave up!

Big bowls of food are awesome. Your dinner bowl looks GREAT. I want to find stuffed microwaveable fish, that sounds really good!

Hope you have an awesome weekend, especially to make up for your loooong week!

  10. HA! never have I ever. hilarious.

Love the Tilapia dish! Microwave Meal = sure winner.

I’ve heard those Blue Diamond nuts are pretty yummy…I remember Linds over at Love of Oats raved about them. If I didn’t have a gillion nuts in my pantry, I’d buy some to try.
