Clean Machine

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope that you all slept in – at least a little bit – this morning šŸ™‚ I’m slowly making my way around. I just finished breakfast and am ready to tackle my to-do list. The biggest item on today’s list is cleaning my apartment. It has been way too long since that happened. REALLY. I’m ready to wipe off the dust on the vacuum and get rid of the dust everywhere else!

Since I won’t hear back about the “secret” until at least Monday, I figured I’d go old school on you and do a little meal blogging! By the way, I love how excited you all are for the secret, so I think I will be a little less vague with you. Here’s a hint: it’s going to be a giveaway, and my jaw about dropped when I got the email about it because I couldn’t believe it was true!

There…feel better now?

Well, you either feel better or dislike me just a little more – I’ll take my chances šŸ™‚ All will be revealed soon enough! Until then, let’s see what was on the menu this morning, shall we?

See those little red beauties? I finally found ready-to-serve pomegranate seeds! I absolutely love pomegranate, but I don’t like having to cut them myself because I’m very bad at it. As luck would have it, I found a HUGE container of seeds at Whole Foods last week. Although they were a bit pricey, they have lasted me for an entire week and will last for at least a few days more, so I think it probably comes out even. Plus, these seeds are incredibly juicy – better than I’ve had in a long time – so that makes it extra worth it!

I combined the pomegranate seeds with a container of Fage and crumbled a Kashi Blackberry Graham Cereal Bar on top. These bars are fabulous – a lot like a Nutri-Grain bar in texture, but with a more natural taste.

I enjoyed breakfast with the usual mug of Coffee Cocoa – have you missed this?!

The reason I ask if you miss it is because I certainly miss meal blogging. It’s always so much fun to share what I eat with everyone. Reviews and other random posts are fun, but it’s cool to share my actual meals because it seems a bit more personal.

Speaking of personal, I’d like to give a big shout out and THANK YOU to the lovely VeggieGirl, who was kind enough to send me an awesome package of goodies earlier this week.

We recently had a conversation where I revealed that I have never tried a medjool date before. Imagine the horror šŸ˜‰ So VeggieGirl made it easy by sending me a great package of dates from Oh! Nuts, along with some dried apple slices – which are AMAZING! I will be sure to let you all know what I think of the dates – I’m going to have to try them with peanut butter, methinks. THANKS AGAIN, VEGGIEGIRL!

I’m off to start cleaning! I think I will listen to some Christmas music to help pass the time. Don’t worry, Andrea – it won’t be emanating from my blog šŸ˜‰ Oh, and before I forget to mention it – I’m really digging the new WordPress! And Google Reader!

  8. My daughter just had pom seeds for the first time and LOVES them – my local grocery store usually carries them for about a dollar, so its worth the extra time to get the seeds out myself.

LOVE listening to Christmas music while cleaning! Which reminds me I need to add Christmas music to my iPod!

    Happy cleaning!

  15. Love your breakfast! I just bought a pomegranate from the grocery store and I took me like 15 minutes to pop out all of the seeds. It’s so worth it though! Have a great day!

  16. So exciting Jenn! Can’t wait šŸ™‚

I’m cleaning today too–what a blast! I hear that you can seed a pomegranate by slicing it into like five and then putting it in a big bowl of water and rubbing the inside. This way the seeds fall to the bottom and the rest floats (or so hear, I haven’t tried it yet). But it’s an idea!

    PS: I’m a date virgin too šŸ˜‰

  17. Haha! I just reread what I posted….I mean that I am a date virgin (like I haven’t had the food before). That could be misconstrued!

  18. Liz is so sweet!
I’ve totally missed your meal posts. Yay!
I just bought my first pkg of medjool dates TONIGHT! How bizarre! We’ll have to trade stories!

  19. Hey, I’ve never tried a medjool date either, so don’t feel bad! Gotta love the dried apple slices as well.

And can’t wait for your big give-away reveal!
