Dziekuje! Danke Shane! Thank You!

I’m letting a little bit of my heritage shine through  50% Polish, 25% German and 25% English, Irish and Scottish mutt! Holla!

Now that you’ve had my history lesson for the day, I want to reiterate the title of this post and say thank you to everyone who commented about our Emmy award. I read each and every comment multiple times because they made me so happy! Kathleen was also very impressed by the blogosphere love and how wide it reaches. Sharing good news with the blogosphere is amazing because it takes your already happy state of mind and raises the bar even higher, so…GRACIAS! (That’s a little of my Spanish studying sneaking in there πŸ˜‰ I almost double majored in it in college).

Some of you asked how Vanna White got in there! Last year, Kathleen and I were lucky enough to have access to Wheel of Fortune’s College Week in Chicago. A student from our school was actually on the show and ended up winning over $30,o00!! We were able to tape it and used the story in the show that won the Emmy award. We also were able to interview Pat & Vanna, so we asked her to make a promo for us. She was really nice about it, too! If I get the newscast to work, you can see the story!

Before I get to the eats, I’d also like to say HI! to all the new readers and commenters out there. I know that some of you have blogs and I know that I haven’t gotten around to visiting them yet, but I am going to go back through the comments eventually and click on your links!!

Ok, time for some food! Yesterday morning, I woke up early for a doctor’s appointment. Before I left, I made myself a bowl of cereal for breakfast: 1 cup Kashi Go Lean, 1 cup Nature’s Path Puffs and 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, all topped with a sliced banana.

After my appointment with the doc, I came back, grabbed my roomie and went off to the gym. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical before coming back to do an easier P90X stretch workout. Today is the LAST day of the first month of the program! More on that at the end of this post!

Once I cleaned up, I made myself a breakfast for lunch!

dscn1794

I tried to spread my jam closer to the edges just for you πŸ˜‰ A lot of you commented on that, which is so funny! As I told some of you, I just like it in the middle so that I can enjoy the crusts plain, since I’m a crust girl 100%. But today, I tried to compromise, haha. It was still tasty!

dscn1797

Then I made myself an eggy bowl: 3 egg whites, spinach and reduced fat Mexican cheese. The cheese was so melty and gooey on top, which made it taste even more delish!

dscn1795

For “dessert,” I had the last of Gina’s macaroons. Yes, they went really fast! I can’t express enough how delicious they are. Thanks again, Fitnessista! You’re awesome

I spent the rest of the afternoon starting to study for my Economics of Gender midterm, which I have on Tuesday. Yes, it’s midterm time at my school, since we are on the quarter system. Finals are at the beginning of March, then it’s spring break, then we come back and start my last quarter of classes…EVER. It’s going so fast, eek! While studying, I made myself an orange juice spritzer by combining 1/2 cup orange juice with 1/2 cup club soda. I used to love these and decided they needed to be brought back in to my life.

dscn1811

Crappy glass, I know.

For din, I made myself a sweet ‘n’ savory combination.

dscn1787

On the big plate, we have spinach topped with a Quorn cutlet and Annie’s spicy BBQ sauce. This stuff is hot hot hot! I love it πŸ™‚ I didn’t realize that BBQ sauce made good salad dressing, but it does!

dscn1789

And in the smaller cup, I had 1 cup Fage topped with 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder and 1 tbsp. of flax. I really am digging this combination. Nom nom!

dscn1791

After dinner, I met up with a group of friends. We saw a really good movie and afterward went to Chili’s, where I splurged and got a margarita. It was fun to socialize πŸ™‚ I love a good margarita every once in a while!

Random Reflection

To end the post, I thought I’d reflect briefly on my first month with P90X. Basically, I’m loving it. I’ve seen better definition in my muscles and I am definitely more toned than I was 4 weeks ago!

The only downside is that some of the DVDs are pretty long, longer than my usual workouts at the gym would be. When life gets in the way, I’ve had to skip through some of the exercises to figure out which ones would be most effective with the amount of time I have. I’ve also substituted certain workouts with cardio days at the gym.

Although I haven’t followed the program exactly,Β  I still feel as though I am getting something out of it and I think that by the end of the three-month program, there will still be some before-and-after pictures worthy of posting!

**CONTEST ALERT**

Katie, a rep from Vitalicious, recently sent me an email about a Valentine’s Day contest the company has going on. You can enter to win by clicking here. Basically, “Vitalicious is giving away a genuine, diamond-studded Tiffany Pendant valued at $800! For your chance to win, just fill out a brief questionnaire. Even if you don’t win the Grand Prize, you will be automatically entered to win one of 150 one-month supplies of VitaTops! They’ll notify you if you’ve won in March.” Awesome πŸ™‚ Thanks, Katie!

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

I loved all your eats…gotta try the yogurt, protein powder flax combo. In fact, I’ll do it tonight for my post dinner dessert. It’s so funny what I think of as dessert…most people would be totally disgusted. Ha! There the ones missing out. Am I right?

I totally watched your video and that’s so cool that you got to meet the wheel of fortune celebs!

  7. glad you’ve liked P90X, now i’m totally craving it πŸ™‚ the only thing i didn’t like about the contest was the need to purchase them… i love vitatops, but i don’t have enough room in my freezer :-/

  8. I’m a total crust girl too!! I was always the kid eating everyone else’s crusts haha!

Glad you had a blast at the movie! I want to go see it now – I’ve been hearing good things about it!! Hooray for the margarita πŸ˜€

I bought Quorn cutlets the other day, can’t wait to try them!!

While at the gym this morning, I saw an infomercial for the P90X program, thought of you, and I thought it looked super tough! Glad you’re rockin’ girl πŸ˜‰

    Have a great Sunday!

  10. Thanks for the P90X info. My husband just told me about a week ago that he wants to get this and do it. I did some research online, but it’s really nice to hear about it from someone who is actually doing it.

How long are the workouts? Is there cardio invovled?

I’m thinking of doing it with him after my half marathon next month, but I still want to be able to run too. Are they super strenuous?

    Thanks for your help!

  11. Oh man I am so jealous of those Gina macaroons. And thanks for the heads-up about the contest, I’ve always wanted to try those Vitalicious products, and not paying for them would be ideal, haha.

  12. it’s great to hear you’re really feeling the benefits of the workouts. oh and it was so funny to read about you being a crust girl – i’m one of those people who want to cover every inch of that piece of bread, however thinly i have to spread it!! again, HUGE congrats – i hope you’re not getting tired of hearing it already πŸ˜€

  13. boo! why do i have to buy something?! i’ve never tasted their stuff so how would i know if i want to buy them!? boo…oh well. hope one of our commenters/readers wins! that would freak’n rock!!!

glad you’re liking the p90x workouts and getting some benefits out of it! it always sound so intense!!!

  14. Those look like Snakaroons! I really like those.

I love the meals you eat. I wish I could still eat like this. It seems like with a husband all my time goes to trying to come up with “meals” for everything. I like just eating small things all day and on the fly. sigh.

  15. OK i’m soo seeing that movie! Some girls gave me thumbs down on it today!?? What the hell?? HM i trust your opinion more obvi πŸ˜€ YAYYA for margs- they are my weakness, so fun and delish and sugar, and my body hates me the next day haha! Have a great night girrrrrlll

  16. The orange spritzer sounds awesome! I was just looking at some club soda today. Now I wish I had bought some!

Glad t hear you have reached a happy medium with your workouts. Its so easy to become anal about following things to a T!

  17. how fun that you and your roommate do so much together! it makes all the difference to have a gym buddy. good luck with midterms this week!

  18. Jennnnnnnnnnn,

Were your ears burning tonight? The hubs was asking me about the blog and who my new friends were, and of course I told him all about your brilliance! I tried to explain the Bender nickname and I think I just made up why that is your nickname, but he’ll never know the diff πŸ˜‰

Deliciousness, as always, and I too will be trying the yogurt/protein pwdr/flax combo. That is some serious protein!!!

I’m excited to see your before and after pics!

    Have a good studying/school week!

  19. HELLO DEAR! So good to see a full day of eats from you πŸ™‚ Reminds me of back in the dizzle when I first started reading your blog.
I just realized you linked us on the nom. You cutie!
I’m glad you’re basking in the glow of blog love! YOU DESERVE IT ALL!

  20. Can’t wait to see that movie!!
I am a crust girl, too! WhenI was little my mom told me it was good for my hair…so yeah, my vanity had contributed to my carb addictions. Funny how that works πŸ˜‰

  21. Your egg spinach combo looks awesome- love breakfast for lunch.

I want to see that movie as well, and considering I heard great things, I have a feeling I’m going to like it.

I’m glad P90X is working well for you – it’s cool that you are modifying it to fit your needs. I can’t wait to see the before and after pictures.

  22. I have the P90X videos and really like them but I don’t follow the program exactly! I like having someone showing me proper technique for lifting and although Tony Horton is annoying, his videos push me! I have been wanted to see HJNTIY since I saw the preview a couple of weekends ago!

  23. You’re very welcome. I am so excited for both you and Kathleen and am looking forward to reading about your trip to California.

Thanks for the heads up on the contest!

  24. No way!! My roomie is 50% polish too and she speaks fluent polish. It’s REALLY awesome hearing her speak. πŸ™‚

Congratulations on YOUR Emmy!!! You really are multi-talented. πŸ™‚ I hope school and midterms are treating you well. (If anything, HEY it’s senior year, you can slack a little!)

  25. Just have to say 1. Fab eats, as per usual. 2. SO happy to be back! I’m back! and 3. I finally turned in my declaration major app on Friday!!! Now I’m just waiting to hear back…eeeeeeek

  26. Fun weekend! Glad you enjoyed a movie and a margarita; you deserve it πŸ™‚ Good luck on your midterms–I’m sure you’ll do FABULOUS!

  27. Great to hear your thoughts on P90X – I’ve thought about trying it myself since I can’t afford a regular gym membership. Curious to know how long is long, though. For me more than an hour doing a DVD is a bit much so I would hope it’s not MUCH more than that!

Congrats again on the Emmy – that’s huuuuuuuuuuuge!

  28. JENN! Oh my gosh I’m so sorry that I’ve fallen so behind on blog reading, and especially on YOURS, I’ve missed out big time! EMMYS! That’s incredible. Congrats x1000! Seriously, that is soooo awesome.

I’m glad you’re surviving the school stuff and have some of it out of the way now. Gotta love midterm time eh? Eek.

I’m impressed that you’ve still managed to keep up with the P90X though, even with all of the stuff you’ve got on your plate! I’ve had to throw a few workouts to the wayside and cut some down. It’s disappointing, I get so cranky when I’m stuck sitting and studying all day!

I was just talking to a friend about seeing that movie. I think I need it, it looks good! One of the few decent movies that seems to have come out in a while.

  29. eggs for lunch and fage for dinner? Holy cow, u just might need to cook for me one of these days!!

love everything on this post. Your awesome, EB!!
