You Might Know Summer Is Ending IF…

Greetings 🙂 Thanks for the sweet comments about the wedding planning. I know some of you asked to see pictures of the dress. Although I can’t post them, I’d be happy to send them to you “offline” if you’re interested. Just let me know – I don’t want to throw ’em at you unless you’re actually curious!

The weekend is only 9 hours away! We’ve got plans to celebrate Bobby’s birthday. I can’t believe he’s turning 23. I know that to some of you that seems young and to some it is “older,” but to me it seems like just yesterday he was turning 22 and we were about to start our senior year of college. Now we’re both working people with no school to return to, classes to attend or homework to do. The time has gone by so fast that it makes me VERY grateful to have this blog, in order to go back and reflect!

Speaking of reflection, I’ve realized this week that we are roughly 1.5 weeks away from the official start of FALL!! Like many of my fellow bloggers, fall is my absolute favorite season. When you think about it, there is a lot to look forward to:

  • Slightly cool (but not frigid) temperatures perfect for warming sweaters
  • Beautiful leaves and environment – I need to get to the suburbs to see this!
  • The chance to eat fall-ish foods – pumpkin oats, Thanksgiving dinner (technically!)
  • GREAT holidays – Halloween, Thanksgiving, “The Christmas Season”
  • Halloween candy… 🙂

And I’m sure more that I’m missing! The reason I bring this up is because I have found myself participating in a couple of these rather fall-ish activities this week. For example…

You Might Know Summer Is Ending IF…

1) You eat Banana Brulee Oatmeal almost every day this week. Including one day in a mug that looks eerily similar to the picture that Katie posted! I topped mine with almond butter…mm!

And another? Well, alright…

2) You’ve been able to wear long sleeve sweaters on your walk to work and haven’t arrived sweating profusely. I loooove sweaters so much. In fact, I hope to check out Ann Taylor LOFT this weekend because they have some incredibly cute ones right now. Check ’em out!

3) You’ve been doing some fall holiday research for work, including writing some fun tweets! I love the social media component of my job! It allows me to get creative in 140 characters or less 🙂

4) Last but not least, I took some time recently to go back through my archives and see where I was at last year in terms of blogging about fall. Here are some of my favorite posts if you’re interested!

Hey there, Pumpkin!

Choosing is as hard as a butternut squash! (The BSI!!)

I loved reading those! Especially the video with awkward Bobby 🙂 JK, BK!

I’m looking forward to seeing what we can all come up with for this upcoming season. The holidays are a genuinely all-around happy time (and I don’t say that to be cheesy, I firmly believe it!) so I’m sure there will be a lot of great recipes and good times. Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. OW!I’d love to see your dress. I do love me some pumpkin but…I am a summer baby at heart. I am a little sad fall is coming…although SC is not really showing any signs haha. Thanks for the heads up on the cute sweaters- totally going to check that out!

  2. Jenn i’m sooooo glad to hear everything is going so well!!! I will def email u for a sneak peek of the WD 😀 😀 I LOVE fall soo much and it is soo exciting to be on the East Coast for this new season (ha kind of new to me anyway) I love your flashbacks, Fall of last year was when I first started reading blogs and it’s so crazy to look back and see what everyone has accomplished in the past yr. Can’t wait to chat, xo!

  3. AH! I love fall too! Especially when we get TRUE fall with the changing leaves and cooler (but not cold) weather. I love pumpkin picking and apple picking and then cooking with said apples…

OH and I love the “homier” recipes too… beef stew, roast chicken… *sigh*

    Date soon?

  4. How much do I love you, Jenn? Words can’t even say! Haha you weren’t kidding; that picture IS eerily similar. Great blogging minds think alike, I guess. I love the idea of oatmeal in a mug because that just makes it even more comforting, as anything in a mug ups the comfort factor (Hello Jenn’s famous coffee cocoa!). You are so so sweet to mention me; it really made my day :).

Now I am off to check out your old butternut squash post. I seem to remember a cute whipped-cream smiley face concoction…

OMG you picked out a dress?! I love surprises, so I’ll just wait til the big day to see the pictures… I’m sure it’s as beautiful as you 🙂

    Love,
    Katie

  5. I agree about Fall. I love it. Thanksgiving is my all time favorite holiday, hands down. Growing up in VA spoiled me with the changing leaves – I don’t think I can live anywhere else now!

I would LOVE to see pics if you have time to send them! I bet it’s just beautiful 🙂

  6. I totally feel on one sweaters, girl! I wear cardigans in the summer sometimes because I love them so much and I am so happy I don’t have to be super hot to look cute in my cardigan anymore!

  7. Those bowls of oats are most certainly drool-worthy!! And definitely one of the perks of cool weather is having a steamy bowl of oatmeal to warm your mornings! 🙂

I did a little Ann Taylor LOFT shopping last weekend, definitely adorable sweaters right now, as well as some amazing deals!!

  8. I love fall too!!! It is my abs favorite season.. I love halloween and the leaves and everything that goes along with it!!

  9. Fall is the best season! Love your list because it’s so true – the holidays, the clothes, the food 🙂

Have fun celebrating this weekend!! Happy Birthday to Bobby!

  10. Your list of “reasons to love fall” are exactly why I love fall too!! Especially the perfect weather and the pumpkin recipes 🙂 I’ve gone to the store twice now and they have been out of pumpkin puree both times! Ugh, I am craving the pumpkin! I am thinking about making some pumpkin ice cream, bread and maybe even donuts.

  11. I am loving fall already- though summer never really hit Scotland! Haha 😀 I like summer weather, but nothing beats fall food…pumpkin, butternut squash, apples…

    have a great weekend!

  12. you also known it’s fall when you can’t find canned pumpkin for the life of you in the grocery stores.. sad, but true.

    happy birthday to Bobby!

  13. I cannot wait to make those pumpkin oats from your “hey there pumpkin” post!!! Cannot wait. 🙂

I started reading blogs around the fall of last year, so i’m excited to start seeing all the delicious holiday goodies and pumpkin-y concoctions again!! Happy bday to Bobby!! Have a great day, Jenn! xooo

  14. I love fall too! I’m not much for heat, so fall is just so refreshing and cozy to me. 🙂

And I do really want to see a picture of your dress. I was a weird little girl and used to sometimes buy wedding magazines just to look at all the pictures of dresses. I’ve been making mental notes for my own (some day) ever since! Just gotta score a ring in the meantime. 😉 Do email me if you have a sec!

    Abrazos right back. 🙂

  15. can you believe i’ve never been in a place when the leaves actually change colors for all? i know, tragedy…but i’m from socal…and now i’m in TX…and was in FL. guess i’m out of luck.

sign of end of summer: HOODIES. Like today. And rain. 😉

  16. i know i can always count on you to be positive no matter what…even though Chicago had no summer whatsoever, I guess I do like fall too!! 🙂 I think fall is the season that we honestly, really need to meet up. hahahah

What does your schedule look like for either…dinner on a weekday or some kind of weekend plan at the end of this month?

  17. I love fall already but this post of yours has now made me EXTRA excited for it! Everything about it is just so darn lovely. I love wearing sweaters too, they’re just so cozy! (winter jackets are a different story…) And I can’t wait for fall flavours, foods and holidays.

Your oats look so extra good in a mug that I think I might have to make some mug oats of my own very soon.

Happy Birthday to Bobby, have fun celebrating!

  18. I loved your post, just THINKING about fall makes me excited!! I was just saying to Mike that I’ve started seeing leaves on the ground, and changing colors on the tress, on my runs along the lake (especially running further south) but yeah, for the most part you have to go to the burbs to really see the colors 😉

I would love to see the dress, but only if it’s not too much trouble! 🙂

  19. Fall is SO my favorite time of the year!! The smell of burning leaves….the colors of leaves…..sweater weather! BOOTS!! Fall scented candles…pumpkins….OMG I have so much fun breaking out my Fall themed decor!! 😉
    Yummy!

  20. I would love to see the dress please!

Fall is my favorite season as well! Pretty much for the EXACT same reasons you mentioned – AS WELL AS – it’s our anniversary. But we picked the fall to get married because I love it so much – so it’s pretty much a big circle! 🙂

  21. We have yet to get our fall weather here – it supposed to go up to 25 C here this coming week. I would love some fall weather so I could wear my fall clothes, but alas, not yet.
