NatureBox

It’s always fun when I see the tiny yellow Post-It note on my mailbox that means I have a package.

This was one package I couldn’t wait to rip open, too. When the team at NatureBox first contacted me for a review, I was very intrigued. The company sources and delivers healthy snacks to its customers on a monthly subscription basis. For $19.95 per month you receive four to five full-sized packages that each have an average of three to four servings. Their products include whole grain granola, dried fruits, trail mixes and raw fruit and nut bars, to name a few.

The best part is that for every NatureBox sent out, the company donates one meal to feed the more than 14 million children in America who go hungry every year. I love that they have a “why.”

They say that satisfaction is guaranteed and in my case, that was definitely true. I enjoyed each of the five products I received and thought I’d review them all to give you a look at what they offer.

First, we have peppery pistachios.

Peppery Pistachios*

These are not your average bright green nut. They are seasoned with sea salt and pepper and have a real kick to them. I’m a fan of shelling and eating because it helps me slow down and avoid cramming them in by the mouthful. Though I think if I tried that in this case, my mouth would be on fire. 🙂 These are perfect for anyone who likes added spice to their snack.

Smokey Pumpkin Seeds

These are the pepitas, which are small, flat and dark green (as opposed to those encased in a yellow or white shell you’d see with a pumpkin). They are seasoned with tamari shoyu sauce, hot chili powder and garlic powder. Also excellent, and also good when you need to spice things up.

Dried Pears

Given my notorious sweet tooth, these were hands down my favorite of the box and they were gone within a day (I swear Bobby tried them, too). Dried fruit is always a win in my book, and these were no exception. They were perfectly dense and chewy and retained all of their flavor.

Cranberry Jubilee

This was a tasty trail mix made with a laundry list of great ingredients: pumpkin seeds, cranberries, sunflower seeds, almonds, papaya, raisins, Brazil nuts and apples. Out of all five, it was probably my least favorite, but only because the others were “out of the park” awesome.

Zingy Currants

You can’t go wrong with these! They are almost identical in taste and texture to a raisin but are a little sweeter. I’ve paired them with the pumpkin seeds and with my own raw almonds, but they also taste great plain when you want a little spike of sugar.

***

I was very impressed by what NatureBox came up with. I like the idea of getting something new every month that you know will be minimally processed with no high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, trans fats or artificial sweeteners, flavors and colors.

The one downside, of course, would be spending the money and then winding up with something you don’t like – but that’s what friends and family are for, right? I am definitely considering signing up for my own monthly subscription.

Now if I could the rig the box to be all dried fruit…

If you’re intrigued, NatureBox is offering 25% off the first box by entering promo code HEALTHY during checkout. This code is applicable for month-to-month subscriptions. Six-month subscriptions receive one month free and yearlong subscriptions receive three months free.

You have to sign up before the 5th of each month to get that month’s box, as they ship before the 15th. You can pause or cancel at any time, too.

Have you tried NatureBox? If so, what did you think?

Happy (almost) Friday! Any big plans for the weekend?

*I enjoyed some Peppery Pistachios while writing this post. Yum.

Abrazos,

  1. Nature Box seems really cool! I’m a big fan of dried fruit, nuts and trail
mix, so these snacks are definitely up my alley. The only problem with dried fruit is that it vanishes really quickly at my house. Not sure how that happens. 😉

    Have a great Friday Jenn!!
